Stocks Mixed Thursday Morning; New Unemployment Claims of 1.31 Million Last Week
Stocks on the Move
Carnival Corp (CCL), Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCL) and Freeport-McMoRan Inc (FCX) are moving higher this morning, while Nucor Corporation (NUE), Carrier Global Corp (CARR) and Alaska Air Group, Inc. (ALK) are headed lower. Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) and Six Flags Entertainment Corp (SIX) were upgraded by analysts this morning, while Bank of America Corp (BAC), Square Inc (SQ) and SeaWorld Entertainment Inc (SEAS) were downgraded.
International Markets
Stocks in Asia are up. The Shanghai SE Composite Index is up 1.39%, the Mumbai Sensex is up 1.12%, the Australia ASX All Ordinaries is up 0.67% the Hang Seng is up 0.46% and the Nikkei 225 is up 0.4%. In Europe stocks are mixed. The DAX is up 1.51%, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.66%, the CAC 40 is up 0.24% and the FTSE 100 is down -0.47%.
Futures and Currencies
Energy futures are mixed today. The price for West Texas Intermediate crude oil is down -0.1 at 40.8 per barrel. Brent crude is up 0.06 at 43.35 per barrel. Natural Gas is up 0.05 at 1.87. Precious metals are mixed this morning. Gold is down -0.3 at 1808.59 per ounce. Platinum is up 6.48 at 857 while silver is up 0.15 at 19.32. The dollar is mixed compared to the major currencies today. The greenback is down against the euro, up against the Yen and down against the Pound.
Put/Call Ratio
Yesterday, 1,511,700 call contracts traded on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) compared to 605,084 put contracts. The single-session put/call ratio was 0.4.
