The S&P 500 futures trade 25 points, or 0.7%, above fair value as the market builds on yesterday's broad-based advance. Economic data will be in focus this morning while the Fed begins its two-day policy meeting. Investors will receive the Empire State Manufacturing Survey for September (Briefing.com consensus 5.9) and Import and Export Prices for August at 8:30 a.m. ET, followed by Industrial Production (Briefing.com consensus 1.0%) and Capacity Utilization (Briefing.com consensus 71.7%) for August at 9:15 a.m. ET. Overseas, China's retail sales and industrial production data for August came in better than expected, helping Asian markets close mostly higher. China's Shanghai Composite increased 0.5% on Tuesday. Corporate news, which was a key driver in yesterday's session, has been relatively light this morning. U.S. futures, though, are drawing influential support from the resiliency in the mega-cap stocks like Apple (AAPL 117.70, +2.34, +2.0%), which is up 2.0% in pre-market action after rising 3.0% yesterday. In the Treasury market, longer-dated maturities have edged lower to push yields mostly higher. The 2-yr yield is flat at 0.14%, and the 10-yr yield is up two basis points to 0.69%. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.3% to 92.80.
